“Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation,“
1 PETER 2:2
If you have been following my posts on Instagram, you will notice that I have been sharing with you all my intention & desire to be more intentional when it comes to reading God’s word.
This is a key thing in the journey of any believer, and I believe must be our priority.
Now, the reason I bring it up is because we live in a day and age where we are on the go – life is busy. If you aren’t busy, then you aren’t productive- which isn’t true.
And we have become slaves to this narrative and way of living that we don’t take the time to just slow down, breathe in and out, reflect and most importantly; relax.
We don’t slow down and take the time to sit at God’s feet and hear what He has to say to us. To read His word, to meditate on it and let it renew our minds and transform us from the inside out.
Or, we think of it as something to cross of our to-do lists and say, “Done for the day!” with a sense of pride that we have ‘read our Bibles’ or ‘done what a good Christian is supposed to do’.

Prioritize God’s Word
The Word Of God has to be a priority in our lives, and not because “you got to do it” but because this is how you get to know who God is, what his like, how he thinks, what he expects of you.
You also get to know what God wants for you and who you are in him. How to navigate this journey of salvation and how to go about certain situations and circumstances. The word of God has answers to all life’s questions, whether you believe it or not!
In our aim to prioritize reading God’s word, want to share with you some very deep insights as to the importance of reading scripture:
1)To be carnal minded is death
Colossians 3:1-2 talks about this.
“Therefore if you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, sharing in His resurrection from the dead], keep seeking the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above [heavenly things], not on things that are on the earth [which have only temporal value].”
Colossians 3:1-2 AMP
If you’re thoughts and mindsets are not in line with God’s Word, the thoughts you will think won’t bring life.
What do I mean by this?
Jesus said that as a man thinketh, so is he and out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. You will only speak what you think; and you will only think what you spend your time consuming.
For example, if you spend time listening to a song that is full of curse words, don’t be surprised to find yourself thinking about that song and the words in it, and eventually cursing!
If you spend your time with gossipers (Psalm 1:1), don’t be surprised if after a while, you begin to gossip as well! That’s just the way things work.
This also applies to negative thinking or negative self-talk: If you think low of yourself or of your situation, it will become that way!! You cannot expect to sow mango seeds and harvest an apple tree as a result.
“You will only think what you spend your time consuming.”

And that is why it is so important for us to ‘set our minds’ on things above and we can only do this by reading God’s word.
2)Renewing your mind
Romans 12:2 tells us not to conform to the ways and thinking of this world but to be transformed by the renewal of our minds.
“And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purposes for you].“
ROMANS 12:2 AMP
The only way you can renew your mind is if you read God’s word, and you will only read God’s Word if you prioritize it.
Social Media, friends, books, movies throw at us so many things that we take in; that we consume and it’s time to put a stop to taking in whatever comes our way and to look at it using God’s word as a filter and ask ourselves: “Is this thing bringing death or life into my thoughts & life ?”
We need to read our Bibles. We need to feed on our Spiritual diet.
Heaven has laid out this diet for us so that we can live a life of peace, joy and blessings, knowing who we are in Christ and knowing who he is.
This diet is for our souls. For the empowerment of our minds and hearts which eventually stems out to our physical bodies (Proverbs 3:7).
So let’s create time for this Spiritual diet that we so need & require.
Hello Sisters!!
