“…to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.”
~Isaiah 61:3
Hello!!
And welcome back!! If this is your first time here, welcome and feel at home.
Last week, I wrote quite briefly on a narrative that’s going on within our society, especially among young girls and ladies in general (to read that post, click here).
Today we are going to explore that narrative and dismantle it. I advice you to get comfortable, grab a cup of coffee or tea, whichever you prefer and let’s dive in!
Today’s Culture- Fake it till you Make it.
In our culture today, what’s happening is that almost everyone, from young to old, men, women are living with masks on; living a life of ‘fake it till you make it’. And sadly, many of us ladies have taken up this way of doing and living life. We walk around acting like everything is alright, everything is perfect, trying to prove to ourselves and to society that we are doing great and reality we are not.
“...we are broken inside, people who are hurting, seeking rest for our weary souls...”
In reality we are broken in the inside. In reality we are hurting individuals or have been hurt and we haven’t healed; we are empty and unsatisfied and looking for something or someone to fill the void inside. We are angry, bitter, sick and tired and our souls and minds are weary, seeking rest.
But guess what?
You don’t have to live life that way. You need not walk around with a mask on your face and heart trying to hide away all the brokenness. You don’t have to act like everything is alright when it is clearly not okay.
The Solution – Jesus.
There is a solution. There is a way out. There is freedom. And it is found in one person, and His name is JESUS. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus.
I was that girl. Insecure, Low Self-esteem, hurting, seeking approval from people, let the number of likes I got on my Instagram determine my worth and hiding it all behind a smile. I would smile and get complimented that I was such a happy person but inside I felt so empty. Until I truly surrendered and let Jesus into my brokenness.
Here is the thing:
1) Jesus came for the broken [see Isaiah 61:1-2, Isaiah 53:4, Matthew 9:12-13] . He isn’t seeking perfection from you neither does he want you to hide your brokenness from him or try and clean yourself up before you come to him. He already knows what’s going on and still calls you beloved and invites you into his loving arms to lay the struggle down and walk in freedom because of the sacrifice on the cross.
2)It’s your brokenness that God will use. He will turn your mess into a message and use it for His Honor and Glory. So do not look down on yourself and what you have or are going through because Jesus will come in and He will blow your mind.
“There are too many ‘perfect’ people in this world; in our circles. We need more authentic and raw people.”
Renee
If you would like to change the narrative in your life, I urge you to pray this prayer and let it all go. Lay it all down at the feet of Jesus. He wants you to; He is calling you to a life of freedom, peace and inexpressible joy.
“My sacrifice, O God is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, God, will not despise. ” ~Psalm 51:17 NIV
Dear Jesus,
I come before you humbling myself before your throne. I come to surrender and lay down my brokenness, my hurt, pain [you can name anything else that you are holding onto], knowing that you will not despise a broken and contrite heart.
I ask that you heal my heart and help me let go of this way of living.
I lay down the masks, as I step into a life of freedom, authenticity and peace. Help me renew my mind as live for you.
In Jesus name, AMEN.
And if Jesus isn’t LORD over your life then the prayer above won’t make any sense to you, Therefore I urge you to pray the prayer below:
Dear Jesus,
I come before you this day, acknowledging and confessing that I am a sinner. I ask that you cleanse me with the blood of Jesus and wash away all of my sins.
I repent and lay all that I am down at your feet and surrender my life to you. I ask that you be my Lord and Saviour and come and live in my heart from now on, till you come back.
I love you, AMEN.
If you did, CONGRATULATIONS!!
